This article analyzes the socio-political and spiritual transformations that took place in the Turkestan region during the second half of the 19th and the early 20th centuries. It examines the state of the local population within the education system under the colonial policy of the Russian Empire, the emergence of the Jadid movement, and its role in establishing new-method schools. Special attention is given to the foundation of the Turkestan People's University in 1918 and its importance in shaping the modern higher education system in Uzbekistan. The article emphasizes that cooperation between Jadid intellectuals and progressive Russian scholars contributed to the advancement of science and education in the region.
