The study provides a detailed analysis of the formation of the corpus method, its historical stages, and the new opportunities that emerged with the introduction of computer technologies. It also highlights the development of multilingual, comparative, and parallel corpora, as well as their areas of application in translation studies and artificial intelligence systems. The article further presents substantiated views on diachronic and synchronic corpora, levels of annotation, and the scientific value of linguistic tagging.
