The article examines the formation of Uzbekistan’s energy infrastructure in the first half of the twentieth century through the
example of the Quvasoy Thermal Power Plant (GRES). Within the framework of the GOELRO plan, the construction of the plant
and its impact on industrial development, urban planning, and socio-environmental processes in the Fergana Valley are analyzed
on the basis of archival and statistical sources. The study substantiates the role of the Quvasoy GRES as a key infrastructural
factor in the development of Uzbekistan’s energy system.
