This article analyzes the views of the Jadid intelligentsia working in Turkestan at the beginning of the 20th century on the
language issue. Based on historical sources, the article highlights the efforts of the Jadids to develop their native language, form
literary and linguistic standards, and strengthen the position of the national language in education and the press. A comparative
analysis of the views on language of such Jadids as Mahmudkhoja Behbudiy, Abdullah Avloniy, Munavvarkori
Abdurashidkhanov, Abdurauf Fitrat, and Ashurali Zohiri is also carried out.
