This article examines the political and socio-economic conditions, as well as the ethno-cultural relations of the population inhabiting the territory of present-day Uzbekistan during the Iron Age. Particular attention is given to the formation of cities and early state entities that emerged as a result of population migrations in antiquity. In addition, the study analyzes cultural and economic micro-oases that reflect the geographical and environmental landscape of the left bank of the Amu Darya River.
