BASIC LINGUISTIC UNITS OF THE INTERPRETATION PROCESS
This article examines the linguistic significance of the proper use of terminology in sports commentary. It analyzes the influx of new terms
and neologisms into the language under conditions of modern socio-economic development, as well as their use in mass media. Special
attention is given to the etymology of the concept of “term,” its historical formation, and its development across different languages. The
study highlights the role of terminology in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, professionalism, and expressiveness in sports commentary. It
also outlines the main features of terms and the structure of the sports terminological field
