THE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SURKHAN-SHERABAD OASIS DURING THE TSARIST RUSSIAN PERIOD

This article analyzes the historical role of the Surkhan–Sherabad oasis, which had strategic importance in the late 19th century during the period of Tsarist Russia. The study classifies the beks and districts (tumans) of the Surkhan–Sherabad oasis, which was part of the Emirate of Bukhara. It also examines the structure and geography of internal and external transportation routes. In addition, the economic and military-strategic significance of this region is revealed
