This article analyzes the historical evolution and institutional development of gender equality policy in Central Asia. It examines the impact of Soviet modernization, which established formal equality, and the revival of traditional norms in the post-independence period. The role of international organizations and national legislation in shaping gender policy is also highlighted. The study identifies implementation challenges, institutional weaknesses, and socio-cultural barriers. It concludes that sustainable gender equality requires deeper reforms and effective monitoring mechanisms
