The development and deployment of productive forces requires the accumulation of certain knowledge and information about the
regions of the country. Consequently, the need to study the level of economic development of the region, its natural,
demographic, material conditions and opportunities with efficient and rational placement of production enterprises led to the
separation of economic geography from geography and its development as a separate independent science. If the science of
"Natural Geography" studies natural processes and events occurring in the geographical crust, then the science of "Economic
Geography" studies the features and patterns of regional development of production, in particular, productive forces. The article
is devoted to the analysis of patterns, factors and principles of development and distribution of productive forces that form the
basis of economic geography.
