This article reports on the enzymatic and antimicrobial activity of the endophytic strain Bacillus subtilis – IH 25, isolated from the
medicinal plant Inula helenium. It was found that the strain synthesizes the enzymes amylase and protease in greater quantities
than lipase and exhibits zones of inhibition against pathogenic bacteria such as S.aureus, P.aeruginosa, E.coli, S.marcescens, and
B.subtilis. Its antagonistic activity against the opportunistic fungus C.albicans was also investigated. It was determined that the
Bacillus subtilis-IH 25 strain exhibits moderate resistance to vancomycin but is susceptible to ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol,
imipenem, meropenem, erythromycin, clindamycin, linezolid, and norfloxacin.
