The article reviews the current state of palynological investigations of the Lower Jurassic deposits of the Sudochye Depression
within the Ustyurt petroleum-bearing region. Published data on the stratigraphy, palynology, and petroleum potential of the Jurassic
deposits of Ustyurt were analyzed. The results of previous studies on spore-pollen assemblages were summarized, and the potential
of palynological methods for the subdivision and correlation of Lower Jurassic terrigenous sequences was evaluated. The study
demonstrates the high biostratigraphic significance of palynological data for refining the age of productive horizons. It is concluded
that the Lower Jurassic deposits of the Sudochye Depression remain insufficiently investigated from a palynological perspective,
highlighting the need for detailed palynological studies to improve the stratigraphic framework of petroleum exploration.
