This article provides some considerations on diminutives and their pragmatic properties. Pragmalinguistics is inextricably linked with cognitive linguistics, which places the human image at the center of linguistic research. The focus of both of them is on the communicative situations in which a person participates. In these situations, a person is embodied as a subject of living speech, as an object of inner speech, or as a character in a literary text. On the other hand, the use of diminutives certainly creates a pragmatic situation.
