PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF ADOLESCENTS WITH HYPOCHONDRIA AND OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER

This article examines in detail the nature, psychological concepts, diagnosis, and treatment of OCD and other proposed disorders. First, we briefly outline the signs and symptoms of OCD and provide an overview of the many other problems associated with this disorder. The second topic we discuss is hypochondriasis. After a thorough analysis of this proposal, we conclude that there is no overlap between them, as some authors claim. We then review scientifically supported psychological models of OCD, related disorders, and hypochondriasis. Finally, we discuss the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders.
