This article еxamines the issue of marriage between close relatives from a comprehensive approach. The issue is analyzed from sociological, bioethical, medical, legal and cultural perspectives. The article analyzes the bioethical foundations of circumstances that prevent marriage based on Islamic law and Article 16 of the Family Code. At the same time, the author conducts a comparative analysis of legal mechanisms, prohibitions and health policies regulating marriage between close relatives in countries such as South Korea, the USA, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan. The article highlights the conflicts between еxisting views, customs, religious and jurisprudential teachings, social norms and marriage between close relatives. The attitude towards such marriages in some regions of Uzbekistan, their positive and negative consequences are analyzed through a questionnaire and еmpirical data.
