DEVELOPING AN ESP TASK SYSTEM BASED ON AUTHENTIC MATERIALS FOR FOOTBALL STUDENTS
This article addresses the issue of teaching English to football students in accordance with their professional needs. The study aims
to examine the methodological potential of an ESP task system developed on the basis of authentic football materials. The research
was conducted with first-year football students at the Uzbekistan State University of Physical Education and Sports. Authentic
materials such as match commentaries, press conferences, and football regulations were used during the experimental sessions.
The findings indicate that tasks based on authentic materials contribute effectively to the development of professionally oriented
language competences. The proposed task system can be applied as a methodological model for improving ESP courses in sports-
related higher education programs.
