Lake Zamonbobo, Capoeta capoeta heratensis, age structure, growth, length–weight relationship, allometry

Authors

This study assessed the age structure and growth parameters of the Samarkand khramulya (Capoeta capoeta heratensis) inhabiting Lake Zamonbobo. Fish collected through control catches exhibited a total length (TL) of 26.0–36.0 cm, a standard length (SL) of 23.0–33.5 cm, and a body weight (W) ranging from 205 to 632 g. The age composition included 3+ to 6+ groups, with the dominant proportion represented by the 5+ (n=10) and 4+ (n=8) age classes. The length–weight relationship showed a high level of correlation, described by the equations W = 0.0143·TL²․⁹⁵⁵ (R² = 0.927) for TL–W and W = 0.0312·SL²․⁸³¹ (R² = 0.914) for SL–W. The value of b < 3 indicates negative allometric growth. The obtained results are important for monitoring the population of C. capoeta heratensis in Lake Zamonbobo, ensuring rational use of its resources, and providing a scientific basis for conservation measures.
