This article shows that, despite certain similarities, there are some structural differences in Uzbek and Tajik folk proverbs, and that these differences are often related to the phonetic, morphological and syntactic features of the two languages. Since the Uzbek language belongs to the Turkic language family, and the Tajik language belongs to the Iranian language family, there are differences in their sound systems. This is reflected in the tone and rhythm of the proverbs, lexical and morphological differences are observed, and although there are many similar words in the general lexical wealth, the use of some words in the proverbs and the ways of word formation differ.
