This article presents a comparative analysis of Uzbek and English mythological vocabulary as a linguocultural phenomenon. The
theoretical boundaries of the concepts of myth, mythonym, and mythologeme are defined, and the semantic, stylistic, and
conceptual features of mythological lexical units are examined. Alongside the function of mythonyms as proper nouns, their
metaphorical expansion and usage in modern discourse are analyzed. Furthermore, universal archetypes and national-cultural
features are explored through examples of mythological units such as Alpomish and Beowulf, Tangri and God/Odin, dev and giant,
pari and fairy. The study demonstrates that mythological vocabulary is not merely a passive remnant of ancient belief systems, but
an active, symbolic, and evaluative element within the modern language system.
