THE IMPACT OF AN AUTHENTIC LANGUAGE ENVIRONMENT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF LEXICAL
This article is devoted to analyzing the impact of an authentic language environment on the development of lexical competence
among foreign language learners. The theoretical foundations of the concept of lexical competence are outlined and explained on
the basis of scholarly sources. Authentic materials (newspaper articles, blogs, podcasts, films, and other real communicative
resources) are considered as a means of acquiring language in a natural context. The article also provides practical recommendations
on selecting authentic texts according to learners’ proficiency levels, applying a task-based approach, and using multimedia tools.
In conclusion, it is emphasized that the effective use of an authentic language environment is an important and priority factor in
developing lexical competence in ESL/EFL classes.
