This article provides a scientific analysis of the role and specific features of storing parchment documents in archives. The study
examines the origin of parchment, its physical and chemical properties, causes of deterioration, and storage conditions in archival
collections. Particular attention is given to restoration methods, modern technologies, digitization processes, and international
experience. The article also presents proposals and recommendations for improving the practice of preserving and restoring
parchment documents. The findings demonstrate that parchment documents represent not only written sources but also tangible
cultural heritage that requires special care to be transmitted to future generations.
