This article analyzes the state repressive mechanism created by the Soviet authorities under the pretext of combating
counterrevolution in Turkestan during 1917-1924, as well as in the territories of Bukhara and Khiva from 1920 onward, and
examines its activities. The study explores the establishment of extraordinary bodies of Soviet power - such as the Cheka
(VChK), GPU, OGPU, NKVD, revolutionary tribunals, and other coercive institutions - and their repressive policies directed
against local forces striving for national statehood. The paper also examines the influence of the Jadid movement on sociopolitical processes in Turkestan, Bukhara, and Khiva, as well as the activities of the “Young Bukharians” movement and their
political objectives
