This article analyzes the formation of museum work in the territory of the Turkestan ASSR, its elevation to the level of state policy, the process of organizing museum collections, and issues related to the preservation of cultural heritage based on archival sources. The research is grounded on documents and decrees preserved in the National Archive of Uzbekistan, materials related to the activities of Turkomstaris, the nationalization of private collections, and the transformation of museums into scientific and educational centers. The study also demonstrates how scientific expeditions contributed to the enrichment of museum collections and the establishment of museum work on a scientific basis.
