This article analyzes the ecological and meliorative condition of soil-grounds formed on the dried bottom of the Aral Sea and the
patterns of distribution of toxic salts within them. During field investigations, soil profiles were described, and samples were
collected according to genetic horizons. Based on the obtained data, a 1:200,000 scale map of the distribution of toxic salts in the
soil-grounds of the dried Aral Sea bed was compiled. According to the results, the studied area of 4.26 million hectares was
classified into weakly, moderately, strongly, and extremely saline territories depending on the content of toxic salts. It was
determined that 41.5% of the territory is characterized by strong and very strong salinization. The study also revealed that
salinization processes are closely related to soil mechanical composition, hydrogeological conditions, and intensive evaporation.
Based on the research results, recommendations were developed for ecological-functional zoning of the dried seabed territories,
development of halophytic vegetation, establishment of protective saxaul plantations, and scientifically based use of pasture
lands..
