Urbanization, city, natural conditions settlements, sustainable development.

Authors

This article analyzes the territorial distribution of the urban population across the districts of the Bukhara region and examines
the factors influencing this distribution, which allows for an assessment of the current state of urbanization in the region. The
region's territory has historically developed around irrigated lands, trade routes, and centers of economic activity, which played
an important role in the emergence and development of cities.
Currently, the territorial location of the urban population is largely determined by natural resources, transport networks, and
economic potential. Specifically, the region's location in a desert zone contributes to challenges related to water resources.
Consequently, all types of settlements, including cities, tend to develop primarily in areas with relatively higher water
availability.
