In this study, an environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of p-bromophenylacetic acid was developed via electrochemical
oxidation of p-bromoethylbenzene in an acetonitrile–water medium. The process was carried out using graphite electrodes in the
presence of 0.1 M K₂SO₄ as a supporting electrolyte. Using cyclic voltammetry, the oxygen evolution yield on a platinum electrode
was calculated based on Tafel plot analysis. The obtained product was identified by thin-layer chromatography (TLC). TLC
analysis was performed on Silica gel 60 plates using a hexane : ethyl acetate (3:1, v/v) solvent system. The Rf value of the
synthesized product (0.35) closely matched that of the reference compound (0.34), confirming the formation of the target
compound. The proposed approach combines green synthesis with simple analytical control and can be effectively applied under
laboratory conditions.
