This article presents an integrated examination of the origins, trajectory, and socio-ethnological facets of women’s entrepreneurship in Denov district, Surkhandarya region, throughout Uzbekistan’s independence era. Grounded in ethnological observation, semi-structured interviews, and comparative inquiry, the study draws upon field data gathered in 2023–2024. Women’s engagement in family-based enterprise, artisanal crafts, service provision, and small-scale commerce is explored through the prism of national values, the mahalla institution, and cross-generational skill transmission.
