In order to use in genetic breeding studies and obtain source materials with the potential of valuable economic traits,
intergenomic hybridization was carried out on the basis of wild Australian diploid species and the intraspecific diversity of Afro-
Asian cotton species.Preliminary results of studies on interspecific hybridization showed that the studied wild Australian cotton
plants (G-genome) are far from subspecies and forms of G. herbaceum L. (A1-genome) and at the same time relatively
phylogenetically close to ruderal forms (sub. sp pseudoarboreum, sub. sp pseudoarboreum f. harga). The presence of genetic
polymorphism between the studied species and forms of G. herbaceum L. (A1-genome) and Australian wild cotton plants (G-
genome) was revealed by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) results, analyses with the presence of genetically compatible DNA
markers with traits corresponding to valuable economic properties of ABI5, SAPK2, BNL1604, BNL1122, NAU 3478,
JESPR156.
