An extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of zirconium (IV) ions with a solution of 1-(2-hydroxy-1-
naphthoiazo)-2-naphthol-4-sulfonic acid in chloroform were developed. The influencing factors on the distribution coefficient of
zirconium (IV) ions were studied: the nature of the solvent, ionic strength, the ratio of the volumes of the aqueous and organic
layers. Found the optimal volume of org.:wat. phase 4:1; distribution coefficient 0.92. The determination of zirconium is not
interfered with (μg): Y (8.9), Nd (9.3), Mo (9.6), Tc (9.8), Sr (8.7), Ru (10.1) and Rh (10,3) do not intrude.
