AGROTECHNICS OF ARTIFICIAL CASTRATION AND HYBRIDIZATION OF DAIKON (RAPHANUS SATIVUS L.) VARIETIES AND HYBRIDS UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF UZBEKISTAN
This research work highlights the methodology and practical results of artificial emasculation (castration) and hybridization carried
out between the local daikon (Japanese radish — Raphanus sativus L.) variety “Sodiq” and the introduced hybrids “Korean hybrid”
and “Cheongdu”, cultivated under the conditions of the Botanical Garden of the National University of Uzbekistan. During the
study, hybridization efficiency and pod (silique) set rates were compared among the genotypes. The results demonstrated that the
highest seed set rate (78.2%) was achieved when the local variety “Sodiq” was used as the maternal plant. Furthermore, it was
revealed that the pod setting rate was significantly lower in combinations involving the ‘Korean hybrid”.
