This article presents a comparative linguosemantic analysis of metaphors expressing the concept of “sign” in English and Uzbek. Particular attention is paid to the semantic structure of metaphors denoting signs and attributes, the mechanisms of metaphorical meaning formation, and their national and cultural characteristics. The study aims to identify the common and distinctive features of such metaphors, describe the semantic foundations underlying metaphorical transfer, and determine their place within the linguosemantic systems of the two languages. The analysis also demonstrates that metaphors expressing signs and attributes perform not only nominative functions but also evaluative, expressive, and pragmatic functions.
