This article presents a comparative analysis of the course of the derivational process in the system of word combinations in English and Uzbek. Derivation, an important aspect of linguistic evolution, is studied to reveal similarities and differences in how the two languages create new words and phrases. A cross-linguistic approach is used to shed light on the linguistic complexities that contribute to the richness of the lexical systems of English and Uzbek.
