The use of media texts in English language education today constitutes one of the important strategic areas of development of students' analytical thinking skills in the global communication and Information Technology process. This article analyzes the pedagogical, methodological and practical foundations of this direction and describes the recommendations for correct orientation in mediamuhit and the formation of critical sorting competence among various sources. Media texts, in particular news, posts on social networks, advertisements, articles and audio-video materials, along with a thorough mastery of a foreign language in the reader-youth, are considered as an important foundation on which information needs to be analyzed with a critical eye. Also, in addition to enriching linguistic competence in the course of a lesson based on media texts, the article reveals methods for strengthening students ' skills for critical data sorting, reasoning based on specific facts, and consistent inference. The methodology put forward in this article is based on a scientific and innovative basis, which contributes to the creation of rich didactic resources in the modern pedagogical process with the widespread use of interdisciplinary integration and information technologies.
