THE RENDERING OF METAPHOR, SIMILE, AND IRONY IN INDIRECT TRANSLATION (A CASE STUDY OF THE INTRODUCTORY PART OF E. M. REMARQUE’S THE ROAD BACK)
The article investigates specific challenges in translating rhetorical devices, such as metaphor, comparison, and irony in indirect translation. It is based on a comparative analysis of the original German text of Erich Maria Remarque’s novel Der Weg zurück and its translations into Russian and Uzbek. The article discusses the strategies used to preserve the imagery and emotional impact of the source text. The findings offer valuable insights into both the theoretical and practical dimensions of literary translation.
