THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ANTONYMS IN THE GERMAN LANGUAGE (BASED ON V. M. ZAVYALOVA’S ILLUSTRATIVE DICTIONARY “DEUTSCHE ANTONYME”)
This article analyzes the content, structure, and scientific-practical relevance of the German antonym dictionary “Deutsche Antonyme” compiled by V.M. Zavyalova. Although the dictionary does not offer a theoretical classification of antonyms based on semantic or morphological criteria, its alphabetical organization and the use of context-rich examples make it a valuable resource. Each antonym pair is illustrated with authentic usage examples, making the dictionary useful not only lexicographically but also from stylistic and psycholinguistic perspectives. The article also discusses the significance of the dictionary in linguistics and its potential in comparative language studies
