ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ENDOPHYTIC FUNGI FROM FERULA KUHISTANICA AND EVALUATION OF THEIR ANTIMICROBIAL SECONDARY METABOLITES

This article describes the isolation of five pure endophytic fungi from various organs - roots, stems, and leaves - of the plant Ferula kuhistanica. The selected isolates were cultivated in a liquid nutrient medium, and their secondary metabolites were extracted using a polar solvent. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of the extracted secondary metabolites were evaluated against various pathogenic microorganisms, and the isolates with high biological activity were identified. The obtained results indicate that the secondary metabolites of the endophytic fungi isolated from Ferula kuhistanica have the potential to serve as alternative sources of antibiotics in the pharmaceutical field.
