This article discusses the importance of studying economic and administrative regions in Uzbekistan after gaining independence. It highlights the establishment of a scientific council in 1951 to research the country's productive forces. The article outlines regional industrial development plans from the 1960s to 1980s and scholars’ proposals to divide the republic into 6–7 economic zones. The Samarkand-Karshi region is noted for its specialization in cotton and viticulture. Uzbekistan’s leading role in electrical engineering and machine-building within the Soviet Union is emphasized. The article also describes the development of heavy, light, and chemical industries. Each economic region is shown to have developed based on its unique natural and human resources.
