This article provides a comparative-typological analysis of how the image of the Native Americans in the works of the renowned American writer James Fenimore Cooper acquires artistic and philosophical meaning, and how the image of the national intellectuals is formed in Uzbek literature. The study reveals the spiritual commonalities between two different civilizations – Western and Eastern thought, particularly how the concepts of humanity, freedom, morality, enlightenment, and national identity are harmoniously expressed in their respective literary traditions. The research employs comparative-typological, historical-cultural, and philosophical-analytical methods. As a result, similarities and differences between Cooper’s representation of Native Americans and the image of national intellectuals in Uzbek literature are identified. Both are portrayed as defenders of their nation’s historical consciousness, spiritual resistance against colonial oppression, and human dignity.
