The work is devoted to the geological and hydrogeological substantiation of the optimal location of observation points of the regional groundwater monitoring network. In conditions of increasing anthropogenic pressure on the hydrosphere and climate change, effective monitoring is a key tool for rational management of water resources and ensuring environmental safety. The article discusses criteria and approaches to the selection of observation posts based on a detailed analysis of the geological structure, hydrogeological conditions, hydrodynamic features of aquifers, as well as the identification of zones of active geodynamics and intense anthropogenic impact. Special attention is paid to taking into account such factors as the presence of active tectonic disturbances, areas of increased water supply, areas of groundwater supply and discharge, as well as sources of potential pollution. The proposed methodological approaches will make it possible to increase the representativeness of the data obtained, optimize monitoring costs and ensure timely detection of adverse changes in the hydrogeological system.
