FORMATION OF THE CONCEPT OF TOURISM: HISTORICAL AND THEORETICAL ANALYSIS
The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the origin of the term “tourism” and its formation as a scientific concept. The
study examines the etymological roots of the term, particularly its connection with the French word “tour”, the Latin “tornare”, and
the Greek “tornos”. Special attention is given to the distinction between the concepts of “travel” and “tourism”, as well as to the
historical conditions under which tourism emerged as a socio-economic category in the 19th–20th centuries
