The article examines the role of nonverbal communication in shaping the literary image of Amir Timur in S. Borodin’s novel “Stars over Samarkand.” It analyzes facial expressions, gestures, postures, and silence as significant elements of the character’s communicative behavior. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the selection of linguistic means through which the character’s nonverbal communicative behavior is represented in the literary text. It is shown that nonverbal means function as an independent level of textual organization and reflect the cultural and historical context of Eastern tradition.
