This article examines ethnolinguistics as a subfield of linguistics by clarifying its object, scope, and methodological premises. The
aim is to justify a coherent framework for analyzing language-culture-cognition links. Using comparative typology and discoursesemantic analysis, the study proposes operational criteria for identifying ethnocultural meanings and for distinguishing
ethnolinguistics from adjacent disciplines
