This article examines the issues of standardizing sports terminology in the Uzbek language. The study investigates how sports terms borrowed from English and Russian are used in Uzbek, their degree of variation, and possibilities for standardization. The results show that inconsistent use of terms, discrepancies between dictionary definitions and actual usage, and multiple forms appearing in mass media slow down terminological stability. At the same time, a scientifically grounded approach to standardization that considers communicative effectiveness supports the development of the Uzbek sports language. Practical recommendations for standardizing terminology are provided.
