This article analyzes the factors that led to the emergence of emigration from Turkestan during the period of Soviet colonial rule. It examines political repression, restrictions on national and religious values, the policy of the “Cultural Revolution”, collectivization and dekulakization campaigns, the “Hujum” campaign, and the demographic changes that occurred during the Second World War as the principal factors contributing to the emigration process. Based on historical sources, the study highlights the stages in the formation of Uzbek diaspora communities abroad. It demonstrates the negative socio-economic and spiritual consequences of reforms implemented under the influence of Soviet ideology on the society of Turkestan and substantiates their role in intensifying the emigration movement.
