A NEW CANDIDATE SPECIES OF DZIHUNIA PROKOFIEV, 2001 (TELEOSTEI: NEMACHEILIDAE) FROM THE FERGANA VALLEY
Three species of the genus Dzihunia (D. amudarjensis, D. ilan and D. turdakovi) have been described from the inland waters of
Central Asia. Dzihunia sp. samples found in the Great Fergana Canal are distinguished from the above-mentioned species in
some morphometric characteristics. Preliminary molecular analysis suggests that these specimens may be a new candidate
species of Dzihunia.
