The article reviews the historiographical novelty of the famous Russian professor R.Yu. Pochekaev, which analyzes the interaction of the political authorities of the Turkestan region with local and Central Asian rulers of possessions and khanates and draws conclusions about the influence of the “human factor and interpersonal relationships” on this process
