This article analyzes Abu Nasr al-Farabi’s philosophical views on the concept of freedom. The scientific work demonstrates that Farabi interprets freedom not in a socio-political sense, but as an outcome of intellectual and ethical choice. The concept of quwwat al-nāziʿa (the faculty of deliberation) is highlighted as the core of true freedom. Farabi connects freedom with virtuous living and the pursuit of happiness (saʿāda). The article also discusses how Farabi’s ideas were influenced by Plato and Aristotle but reinterpreted within the context of Islamic philosophical thought.
