SEED GERMINATION OF NEW MEDICINAL PLANT SPECIES OF FOREIGN ORIGIN IN THE TASHKENT BOTANICAL GARDEN
This article discusses the selection of medicinal and economically important plant species that can be successfully acclimatized in the medicinal plant collection of the Tashkent Botanical Garden. The enrichment of the collection with new species is possible through the introduction of plants adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the region. The results obtained on seed germination indicate that the level of germination – whether high, low, or completely absent – can be explained not only by climatic factors, but also by geographical, biological, physiological, and other reasons. The article presents observations on the germination periods and germination percentages of seeds belonging to the flora of different regions, sourced from botanical gardens in several CIS countries, tested on various substrates in autumn and spring seasons
