This article examines the stages of formation of certain place names in the Yakkabog District of Kashkadarya Region. It provides a detailed analysis of the processes of formation and development of the names of water bodies, which hold a special place in the structure of the district’s toponyms. The paper also discusses the gradual formation and enrichment of toponyms over the years. The formation and development of place names are explained based on data from historical sources
