This article analyzes the life-based foundations of the emergence of the heroism motif in folklore and written literature. Epic poems, as one of the main genres of oral folk art, are examined in terms of their form and content, reflecting the worldview, moral values, and social life of the people. Uzbek folk epics are compared with the classical epics of world literature, highlighting the specific features of heroic, romantic, and historical epics. Using the example of the epic Alpomish, the symbolic meaning of the ideal hero, embodying wisdom and courage in the people’s imagination, is discussed.
