This article provides a brief overview of one of the most prominent figures in English literature, Jane Austen, and one of her most famous works — the novel Pride and Prejudice. It explores the social life depicted in the novel, the lifestyle of the period, the relationships between men and women, as well as the author’s attitude toward society as reflected through the system of characters. The article offers a general analysis of the main plot, the protagonists’ character traits, and their role in conveying the novel’s main ideas. Jane Austen’s keen sense of observation, critical approach to society, and distinctive writing style are clearly evident in this work.
